Shimone is a second-year student from Nepal. Just before he started college, he helped his father build a small bamboo and wood house. While he has been attending Bethlehem Bible College, his father finished building a larger, more beautiful house, to be a graduation surprise for Shimone when he returned home in the summer of 2017.
But this December, both parents went to church (an hour’s walk, worship service, lunch at church, and another hour’s walk) only to return home to find their house had turned into ashes! The house and everything inside had been consumed by fire during the five hours they were absent. There was nothing left! Now they are reduced to living in a tiny temporary hut next to the remains of their original home.
This means Shimone must return to Nepal this summer to help his father rebuild. How they will do this is problematic as they now have no money.
Please help us help this family build a new home. And, please pray for Shimone’s sister, too. She is just starting to believe in Jesus, but she lives with their uncle’s family who are strong Hindus. Shimone tells us her new faith has been shaken by the fire and she now has many unanswered questions. (Ed’s note: Haven’t we all struggled with that “Why do bad things happen to good people?” question at some point?)
Keep us in your prayers and, as always, thank you for your faithful support.
