A Visit to India

Visiting India for the first time, I was unsure what to expect. I had heard many stories from friends about what to expect, but nothing quite prepared me for what I witnessed.

Jay, Ramola, Ernest and Numretta and the rest of the team at Bethlehem Living Water are the hands and feet of Jesus. The pastors they have trained and equipped are taking the Good News of the Gospel far and wide, and their testimonies left me both humbled and challenged. They truly know what it means to pick-up the cross daily and follow Christ.

Despite some initial hardships traveling to our destination, our team was greeted with great hospitality and generosity. We were amazed at the amount of ministry opportunities Bethlehem Living Water provided as well as by the challenges facing the ministry. Joy overwhelmed us as our brothers and sisters welcomed us. Our amazement continued as they soaked up each bit of devotion, sermon, and bible study we presented. Here the people are truly hungry for the Gospel and have an insatiable appetite for a deeper understanding of the scriptures.

We enjoyed Christian fellowship with many of the pastors and Bible college students throughout the week of our conference. Perhaps our biggest blessings came from prayers we were able to offer on behalf of these dedicated warriors of Christ. We also witnessed first hand the respect that the people of Damoh and surrounding areas have for Jay and his team.

Our unique experiences interacting with people were possible because Jay and his team had already laid years of groundwork building relationships of trust and respect. Space does not permit me to tell all the stories so I will just encourage to you go and see for yourselves all that God is doing in the Bible college, in the village churches, and in house churches throughout India because of Bethlehem Living Water..

Likewise, I would ask you to strongly consider financially supporting the work of Bethlehem Living Water. Despite their success and growth, the road ahead only gets tougher as witness to Christians in India becomes more and more difficult. Satan knows that Christ and His Church are on the move through the work of BLW, and Satan will do whatever he can to prevent losing his grip on this land. But we also know that Satan is a defeated foe, and, by supporting the work of BLW, you will help bring more souls into the Kingdom of God.

Grace and Peace,

Ed’s Note: If you’d like to learn more about realities of life in India, we suggest reading Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity by Katherine Boo. This book illustrates interaction with police, local politicians, and government entities. It will help you gain an appreciation of the environment in which BLW operates.
